Peter Yates Pete (Grizz) Yates will go to the ends of the Earth for a rare MV or a unique MV experience. He has organised a sleepout under a WWII Waiheke Island gun emplacement – in the magazine! He has restored a super rare Chev Field Artillery Tractor (CMP FAT). Yates is bringing his experience of multiple MVPA convoys to New Zealand to help the team execute another fantastic kiwi convoy! As owner of a fertiliser business, Pete knows what it takes to organise efficiently and get things done. Proud father of two adult girls, he is fiercely loyal to people he cares for.

Peter Haigh Coming to MVs from a long history in hard core 4WDs, Peter is now deeply embedded in the Military Vehicle community. He has taken on some ambitious projects including a White Half Track that is rare in NZ. Haigh has done the Bankhead convoy with Yates as the recovery crew. They assisted most of the convoy participants, repairing or recovering the breakdowns on the transcontinental convoy. Haigh and Yates are off to head the recovery section on the MVPA Route 66 Convoy 2017. As General Manager of a leading food processing company, no challenge is too great for Peter. Paul Baptist Bapo recently retired from electrical contracting. That makes him smarter than the average plumber, because in the electrical trade, mistakes can kill! Paul is a die-hard MV enthusiast whose motto is, why trailer a Jeep when you can drive it? 2017 saw him convoying for two days in his M38A1 Jeep through a cyclone to get to the Gisborne National Rally. He told us that on the motorway a big rig went alongside then overtook him, pumping water and road grit all over, soaking him. That was the start of the journey. He is also doing the MVPA Route 66 convoy. Whatever it takes, Bapo will do it to get there. You want someone with that sort of commitment on your side when you convoy nationwide around NZ. John (Subs) Subritzky When John saw 6x6s in the movies, he wanted one! His first truck, a WWII GMC, seemed a bit smaller in real life than he imagined. Subs has been involved in convoys, tours and events for over 30 years. He has helped organise National Rallies, campouts and trail rides. John has managed his local branch as well as being webmaster for the NZMVC. He is handling the media/comms side of Armistice 100. The MVPA International Convention in St Louis in 1981 made a big impression on John. He hitched a ride in the back of an M Series 6x6 350 miles back to Al Williams’ farm. After a week there he went on to the Oshkosh Airshow, returning via the DUKW rides in the Dells. A life member of MVPA, John is in it for the long haul. John is married to Kerrie and they have five children who are now all drivers. MVs have been part of many family adventures and memories. John is looking forward to the 2018 convoy as part of his bucket list! |
