kiwis on route 66
Not a good day.
It started with a dead truck at a gas station. We pulled up to sort him out and then two cruisers (cop cars) pulled up and drew their guns on someone who had not paid for the gas. They got cuffed and arrested.
The rest of the day deteriorated into the worst military defeat in historic convoy history.
We had to deal with more broken vehicles than any other single day in the history of military convoys. We worked until midnight and were able to get all vehicles going in some shape or form. We were paid the ultimate compliment by the Trail executive officer who requested a minimum of two extra New Zealanders for the 2019 convoy.
Huge crowds with US flags turn out in every town, the entire opposite lane stops on the side of the road to video the convoy.
